“Photosounder” – Software That Finds Mysterious Sounds In Photographs

Ever wondered if or just how much your images will speak to the viewer?
This is a video of digital images being played back as a audio file.
This is some awesome stuff!
I wonder what some of my nature stuff would sound like?

Photosounder is a one-of-a-kind image-sound editing program. It is unique in that it opens images and sounds indiscriminately, treats and processes them as images, and synthesizes them as sounds.

  3. This is really interesting, Michael, thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely try it on my photos, too. It seems that the most interesting sounds are created from photos with repetitive patterns. Even thought it’s interesting I’m racking my brain what is it good for? :)

And as you’re an inspiration also for me I would like to see some of your recent work.

  7. This is a very intriguing concept. When looking at photos or critiquing them often times we connect a photo to a particular mood or feeling that it evokes in us. I think it is interesting to add the sound in there that is made from the photo and how often times it also goes right along with the mood that I was seeing in the image. I think it could be a really neat tool to play around with and expand on!
